Cornerstone Ruminations

Christmas is a time for giving, and the joy of finding the perfect gift for someone special can be one of the most fulfilling experiences of the holiday season. Whether it's a heartfelt gesture, a thoughtful surprise, or something that reflects the recipient's passions, the best gifts often carry a deeper meaning. So, what is the best Christmas gift you ever gave someone else? Let’s explore the moments that turned a simple present into a cherished memory.
Don – Leslie and I were at a boutique store in Biltmore Village in Asheville, NC and Leslie fell in LOVE with an African blue topaz designer ring. She didn’t purchase it, but I could tell how much she liked it and wanted it. When we returned to Montana, I contacted the store and was able to purchase it and I gave it to her at Christmas. She was very surprised that I had managed to purchase it and have it delivered to our house in Montana without her knowledge. To this day, she LOVES this ring.
Leslie – I put on layaway for several months a pair of downhill skis and bindings and boots that Don really wanted for Christmas. I hid them under the couch and when everyone was done opening presents and we were picking up the wrapping paper and boxes, I emphatically stated: “OH, I forgot a gift Don . . . look under the couch . . . and MUCH TO HIS SURPRISE was the cherished downhill skis, bindings and boots that he had fervently wished for! Lang boots, K2 skis and Look Nevada bindings.
Hailey – Last year for Christmas, my mom and I gifted my stepdad an original Gibson guitar. They are quite expensive, and my stepdad has been eyeing one for many many years. It was an amazing moment to be able to give him something he has always wanted, and it even made him cry!
Autumn – The year that our family dog passed away at the age of 15, I gave my mom a coffee mug with pictures of him on it, and I also gave her a crochet blanket with two westie puppies on it. She still has both to this day.
Jennifer – A sword. When we were first dating, my Husband had a show that he really liked and had been talking about wanting a replica sword from it. I surprised him with our first Christmas together and he was so excited.
