6 Ways to Show Your Gratitude During National Veteran and Military Families Month

| October 18, 2021

National Veteran and Military Families Month is one of the most recently created celebratory months, put in action by former President Trump starting in November 2020. While various service members are honored throughout the year, this month-long celebration is dedicated to those who make their own sacrifices by supporting military members and caring for families when loved ones are on active duty. Check out some simple ways to show your support and gratitude to military families this National Veteran and Military Families Month.

1. Make a Contribution to Your Favorite Military Charity

Funds for many military charities provide assistance to service members and their families as well. Find a military charity that speaks to you and make a financial contribution.

2. Show Your Patriotic Pride

Celebrate military families by showing your patriotic pride. Fly the American flag in honor of all of those who sacrifice to provide you with the freedoms you currently enjoy.

3. Drop Off a Care Package

If you know of a military family with a spouse or loved one deployed, put together a care package for them to help them out. It could be as simple as bringing them a meal for the evening or even a basket full of snacks and activities to help keep the children entertained.

4.Offer Your Services

Are you good at babysitting? Yard work? Dog walking? Running errands? Offer your services free of charge to military families to help take some of the stress off their plate so that they don't have to do it all alone.

5. Shop at Military-Owned Businesses

Military-owned businesses not only provide financial support for veterans and active service members but also for their families as well. When looking for a product or service, consider patronizing a military-owned establishment first to show your support.

6. Offer a Thank You

While it has become common for people to thank a military member for their service, it is just as important to extend a thank you to the family that supports them as well.

Let veteran and military families know that they have your support by showing your gratitude this November, using the tips listed above.
