Cornerstone Ruminations

Disruptors are forces of change that challenge the status quo, altering how we think, act, and interact with the world around us. In our modern lives, they come in many forms, from technological innovations and new business models to social movements and shifts in cultural norms. These disruptors shake up industries, redefine standards, and force us to adapt in ways we never expected. While they often come with a sense of uncertainty or resistance, they also present opportunities for growth, creativity, and progress. The influence of disruptors is undeniable—they shape our futures, question old paradigms, and ultimately pave the way for new possibilities. Read below to see what the Cornerstone Team has to say about disruptors they experience in their everyday lives or being a disruptor themselves!

"My current disruptor is having trouble finding the time to get to see my 3 grandsons in person, visit them at their homes, and watch them play in their current respective sporting events. It seems that the many wonderful blessings and joys in my life are disrupting my allowable time to enjoy all the blessings of my life! While pondering this dilemma, I realized that these are good disruptors and that I need to embrace the full, wonderful, and blessed life that I have."

Leslie

"Disruptor at this time… While I’ve had several disruptors in my life, the current disruptor is the change to Windows 11 at the office and home computers. While changing to an updated version of Microsoft Windows I knew it would come with a few hiccups, I NEVER expected to have as many issues as we had! I like new technology, I like new choices, I like new opportunities BUT I’m beginning to doubt my new technologies, new choices and new opportunities emotions! I’m anxious to get back to a life that doesn’t have daily disruptions due to new technology! Onward and upward – take each day at a time and soon – I HOPE – I’ll have a new disruptor to embrace that will embolden my former self!

"When I was 12 years old, my grandma gave me a book titled I am Malala written by Malala Yousafzai. Coming from a strong family of women, I was very inspired by Malala and her role as a disruptor. She paid a hefty price for being a disruptor.  As a global advocate for girls' education, Malala challenged traditional systems that oppressed women and girls, especially in regions where education was denied. Her activism brought international attention to the importance of education and women's rights."

"One of the greatest disrupters that has changed the world completely - the INTERNET! It has revolutionized how we communicate, access information, and connect with others globally. The internet has broken down barriers to education, given a voice to communities that once were silenced, and created opportunities for innovation in EVERY industry!! To me, it represents the power of knowledge and connection- proving that when information is accessible to all, progress is inevitable. It is a reminder that even the most radical changes can lead to a more informed, more empowered, and connected world!!"

"I define a disruptor as something or someone who challenges your perspective. For me, my disruptor for 2025 has been my latest endeavor: tap dancing. I danced throughout my childhood, but like many interests, it faded as adult responsibilities took over. With work, family, and various commitments consuming my time and energy, this small, weekly class has disrupted my daily norm in the most joyful way."
