Cornerstone Ruminations

Luck often arrives quietly, without warning or explanation. It can appear in moments that seem ordinary at first, only revealing their significance in hindsight. While hard work and determination often guide our paths, sometimes a stroke of luck alters our direction in ways we could never have planned. Experiencing such a moment taught me that luck is not just about chance, it’s also about recognizing opportunity and having the courage to act on it! See what team Cornerstone has to say about unexpected turns of good fortune and how it reminded them that even the smallest moments of luck can have lasting impacts.

"I have been blessed with good luck all my life, so I don’t have one specific time that stands out. Perhaps that is why I consider myself a very “lucky” man!"
Leslie
"Lucky Leslie . . . I have the “luck” to win things – like a Kirby vacuum cleaner & all the attachments, two airline tickets to anywhere that Alaska Airlines flew, gift certificates from drawings at events, jewelry, free carpet cleaning, just to name a few."
Hailey
"I believe that luck and hard work go hand in hand. Luck may have opened a door — but it was courage, attention, and persistence that carried me through it. A time in my life when luck showed up in an unexpected way was when I woke up one morning and decided to change my major in college out of the blue. I was in Junior college at the time this happened and had been studying criminal justice as my major. I woke up one morning and decided I was going to change it and study communication. I had been failing classes and feeling miserable, and it was all because I was in a major I didn’t like but didn’t know it. Once I changed my major, everything else changed. My grades, my social life, my outlook on school and my happiness. This changed my path because I was able to start studying a major that made me happy and led me to places, I never thought I would be. I worked hard in my new major and when it was time to apply to a 4-year college, I was applying as a 4.0 student with an academic scholarship."

"I don't truly believe in "luck" BUT I met my husband on a dating app over 10 years ago. I didn't even download the dating app; it was actually friends of mine that did it for me (kind of as a joke) and they ended up swiping right on my future husband. I always think back to that and almost panic thinking "if they hadn't swiped right - I would have never known/met my husband and we wouldn't have these two beautiful little girls and the wonderful life we have created 10+ years together. I thank my "lucky stars" for that one!"

"I’ve been fortunate to experience several lucky breaks, but one that truly shaped my path was moving to a new state. That move opened the door to a new job where I met my partner, Matt. It also led me to a community of friends who uplift me and help me grow. I made the most of that break by leaning into the opportunities, building meaningful relationships, and enjoying everything it had to offer."
